Urban Freestyle: Tokyo Throwdown
Design Bootcamp | School Of Motion

Designing for a dance competition in Japan? How do you capture the vibrant energy and cultural depth in a show package? At School of Motion's Design Bootcamp, I faced this challenge with Urban Freestyle: Tokyo Throwdown.
The goal was to create a logo and style boards that celebrate Japanese culture while appealing to a global audience. Inspired by anime and manga, I infused the design with Japanese street scenes and landscapes, transforming them into dynamic manga-style textures perfect for any screen size, from TV to streaming.
Choosing neon pink and teal added a fresh, breakdancing vibe, embodying the electric nightlife of urban Japan. This fusion of modern Japanese elements with dance motifs not only captivated a young audience but also respected cultural nuances.
This project highlights the power of thoughtful design and cultural awareness in crafting engaging visuals. It's a testament to how design can bridge cultures and speak to the heart of diverse audiences.
This is speculative work created for educational purposes as part of a Design Bootcamp homework assignment from School of Motion, Inc.
